The posting has also been picked up and replicated by the blogger David Lindsay. There’s also a left-wing critique of my posting on the Forward blog, while a Conservative Blog Aggregate has awarded me ‘quote of the day’.

Margaret Thatcher 4

carlaw-thatcher-and-forsythA balanced article by Jim Gilchrist in today’s Scotsman on Thatcher’s 30th anniversary, and an incisive and engaging essay by John MacLeod in today’s Scottish Daily Mail. More importantly, both of them plug my book! This from MacLeod: ‘…brilliant…Torrance’s analysis of her era may well prove the standard work.’

Tonight there was a dinner in Glasgow to mark the 30th anniversary, at which Baroness Thatcher was the guest of honour, prompting this press release from Margaret Curran calling on her to ‘apologise’ to Glasgow. Scotland on Sunday has a report on the dinner, and the ‘row’ emanating from Curran’s demand. There’s also a very sensible blog by Alan Cochrane in the Daily Telegraph. You can also read a copy of Lord Forsyth’s speech from the dinner by clicking here.

Meanwhile the Scottish Christian News Monitor has picked up on my quotes in the Scotsman.

Well worth rewatching this week’s Politics Now on STV in case you missed it on Thursday night. In part two there’s a look back at the Thatcher years by me, followed by a debate between STV’s former political editor Colin Mackay, the former Scottish Secretary Michael Forsyth and the SNP’s former deputy leader Jim Sillars.
